MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician who is a team player and enjoys providing top notch hospitality. This is a perfect opportunity for a candidate with limited experience but who would like to learn hotel operations and grow with a career in hospitality.  

The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump is a flagship property of Shamin Hotels, Central Virginia's largest hotel management company. We have tripled in size to 78 full- and select-service hotels over the past ten years and own and operate hotels under the Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, InterContinental and Choice flags.

The ideal candidate will be available to work a flexible full-time schedule that includes week days and some weekends. We are open 24/7/365 days a year, so you must also be able to work some holidays. We have a team environment, so a positive attitude and friendly demeanor is required.

Job Duties:

• Maintain properties, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools.
• Replace AC filters.
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Tend furnace, air-conditioner, and boiler equipment and maintain other equipment with standard preventative maintenance procedures.
• Maintain records on all equipment maintenance and repair.
• Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Maintain superior quality of appearance of interior and exterior of hotel to Hilton and Shamin Hotels standards.
• Repair wallpaper, carpet, sheetrock, and doors of hotel.
• Keep an orderly and well-stocked inventory of finishing supplies.
• Check operation of all guest room equipment.
• Inspect and repair minor problems in common areas.
• Learn and communicate emergency procedures.
• Be responsible for safe operation of all equipment, chemicals, and lockout procedures.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Strong English language skills including the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes while resolving them.
• Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must be respectful and maintain a calm demeanor.
• Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to anticipate, prevent and solving problems.
• Good communications skills including the ability to listen to, understand and clarify concerns raised by guests and fellow associates.
• Must be able to work with a myriad of personalities and levels within and outside the hotel.
• Ability to stand up to 8 hours
• Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Salary : $18 - $20
