Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process to ensure accurate medical records and smooth appointments
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen levels to support clinical assessments
- Prepare exam rooms using aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment for procedures
- Assist optometrists with patient examinations, including handling ophthalmic instruments and recording findings in electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Epic
- Manage patient flow at the front desk by scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and processing payments using retail math skills
- Support medical billing and coding processes to ensure accurate insurance claims and documentation
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and uphold high standards of medical records management
- Provide optical experience by helping patients select frames, demonstrate lens options, and explain vision correction solutions
- Support clinic operations by performing administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and inventory management of optical supplies
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology/optometry clinic is highly preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and ophthalmic procedures
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent patient care standards
