Special Education Classroom Support Paraprofessional/Aide (Full-Time)
The Shaler Area School District is seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and dedicated Full-Time Special Education Paraprofessional/Aide to support our students throughout the school day and school year.
This essential position involves working with students who have diverse learning and behavioral needs within various special education and inclusive general education classroom settings. The successful candidate will play a critical role in fostering a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, one-on-one and small group academic and behavioral support to students with special needs under the direction of the certified teacher.
- Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related instructional plans.
- Support students with daily living skills, mobility, and adaptive equipment use as needed.
- Implement classroom management and positive behavior support (PBS) strategies to help maintain a focused learning environment.
- Assist the teacher with instructional preparation, organizing materials, and managing classroom activities.
- Maintain open communication with teachers, administrators, and the special education team regarding student progress and needs.
Candidate Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children or adolescents, particularly those with special needs, is highly preferred but not required.
- A strong commitment to helping all students achieve their fullest potential.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, patient, and resourceful in dynamic classroom settings.
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information.

- This is a Full-Time, School Year position (consistent with the Shaler Area School District academic calendar).
