Team Leader, Lawn & Garden

Position Summary:

The Team Leader must demonstrate the ability to proactively drive safety of the associates, quality of the product, and on time production order completions. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong team building capabilities, passion and ability to lead, motivate, and train 20 to 80 temporary associates.

Essential Functions:

•    Fully understand and follow all safety protocol in the Lawn and Garden area and the entire facility.

•    Proactively seek out safety concerns and work with the Operations Manager to resolve the issues.

•    Train operators to follow job packets to ensure proper materials are used to ensure quality products are produced.

•    Review job packets to ensure all materials are provided to operators for building specified products listed on the production job packet.

•    Report correct production and scrap quantities within the Epicor system and record data on all necessary paperwork issued by the Operations Manager on a daily basis.

•    Print and kit labels for scheduled production jobs.

•    Ensure operators understand and report accurate production and scrap quantities for each work cell on a daily basis.

•    Train operators to set up equipment correctly according to which product is being produced. 

•    Anticipate end of job, prepare for safe, quick changeovers to include proper materials. 

•    Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues for quick resolution or escalate issue to maintenance or Operations Manager for further assistance.

•    Oversee multiple production work cells.

•    Lead and train production operators according to department standards & communicated expectations. 

•    Complete and submit material requests to the warehouse for items needed to complete job packets in an efficient & timely manner.

Secondary Functions

•    ERP System Experience - Epicor

•    Microsoft Word and Excel experience

•    Participate / Lead as required in any safety programs / meetings

•    Participate / Lead as required in any 5s / continuous improvement activities delivered by the Operations Manager.

•    Work with the maintenance team and Operations Manager to improve or eliminate machine down time. 

Position Specifications:

1 – 3 years of previous supervisory or management experience required

Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly

Ability to bend/twist repeatedly

Ability to work 10hr shifts plus overtime as needed

Repetitious use of hands, wrists, and fingers

Mechanical background knowledge desired

Ability to communicate effectively

Demand Flow/Lean experience is a plus

High school education or equivalent
