Overview
We are seeking a driven and well-connected Business Development Manager with a proven track record in logistics sales to help grow our presence in the Houston market. The ideal candidate will bring a strong network of shippers and carriers, a deep understanding of transportation and freight services, and the ability to close new business opportunities quickly. In this role, you will focus on building and expanding relationships with clients and carrier partners, securing profitable freight opportunities, and driving revenue growth.
You should have a strong sales mindset, be self-motivated, and able to manage and develop a strong sales pipeline. Prior experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, or transportation sales is required.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new shipper relationships in the Houston, TX market
- Leverage existing contacts in the shipping and carrier community to quickly onboard new business
- Understanding prospects’ logistics needs and designing solutions to meet those needs, and then presenting solutions to prospects
- Work with operations team on strategic account management process to ensure retention and growth of critical accounts
- Manage CRM data for accurate, up to date, information regarding customers, contacts, sales pipeline, and sales activity
- Identify right-fit customer targets and prospect via multiple channels to secure meetings with decision makers
- Manage your geographic territory like your own business. Know the profile of the companies who have high volume freight and strategically vet all opportunities
- All other duties as assigned
Experience
- At least 3 years of logistics sales experience with an assigned quota
- Strong existing network of shippers and carriers in the Houston, TX market is required
- Deep knowledge of transportation modes, pricing, and industry best practices
- Proven track record of performance meeting or exceeding targets
- Experience managing a pipeline and using a CRM to log activities
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills: comfortable talking to prospects (including executives) on the phone, in person, and via email
- Competitive drive to achieve stretch goals
- Team player who is also self-motivated
- Comfortable with both cold calling and presenting in pre-set appointments

Pay: $80,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year commission
