Head Cashier

We are looking for a dependable, customer focused Head Cashier to become an important part of our team. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of our front end, providing excellent customer service, and helping ensure that our checkout area runs efficiently and professionally.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, can handle a busy environment, and is comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities. While the primary focus of this position is the front end, our store is a busy, hands-on environment, and flexibility to assist throughout the store is important.

A willingness to learn is essential. Our store carries a wide variety of products and materials, and this position requires someone who is motivated to continually learn, retain new information, and build product knowledge. We are looking for someone who asks questions, stays engaged, and is motivated to keep improving in their role.

This is a position with room to grow as our business continues to grow. We are looking for someone who's interested in learning our operation, becoming confident in the role, and taking additional responsibility over time as the business evolves and opportunities develop!

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient customer service at the front end.
• Accurately operate the POS system, process transactions, returns, exchanges, and other customer purchases.
• Take ownership of the daily organization, cleanliness, and overall operation of the checkout area.
• Help maintain proper front-end coverage and communicate needs or concerns to store management.
• Assist with customer questions and help resolve routine concerns or know when to involve management.
• Continually build knowledge of store products, materials, services, promotions, and procedures.
• Stay self-motivated during slower periods by identifying tasks, learning products, organizing the front end, and assisting where needed.
• Communicate with sales floor and department staff to help customers find products and get the assistance they need.
• Assist customers with loading or carrying merchandise when appropriate.
• Support merchandising, stocking, pricing, and general store upkeep as needed.
• Be willing to learn new products and materials regularly and retain information that helps provide better customer service.
• Maintain dependable attendance and arrive prepared to take responsibility for scheduled shifts.
• Perform other store-related duties as needed in a team-oriented retail environment.

Skills

• Work experience as a retail cashier or similar role in sales
• Basic PC knowledge
• Experience with POS preferred
• Hardware/Building Material knowledge preferred
• Good math skills
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Customer service
• High school degree preferred

Pay: $18.50 per hour
