What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUBSTITUTE TEACHER - JS position at Shady Side Academy?
Shady Side Academy’s Junior School (PK-5th Grade in Point Breeze), is seeking substitute teachers. A candidate may choose to substitute teach at one Shady Side campus or multiple campuses. Please indicate which campus(s) you would like to substitute teach during your interview. If a candidate is a parent of a current Shady Side student, they will not be permitted to substitute teach in their child’s class.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the class in the teacher’s absence
- May be required to fulfill other duties as assigned, such as carpool or lunch duty
- Using the Frontline absence management system to receive notifications for open positions
- Clear and timely communication with SSA personnel
- Being an integral part of a caring community of learners
- Treating all children and adults at SSA with respect and kindness
- Communicating with teachers or administrators any relevant information they need to know about the school day
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have:
- A depth of knowledge and understanding of working with children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Approaching all circumstances with flexibility and patience
- A bachelor’s degree is required and PA clearances will be needed
