Public Safety Officer
POSITION SUMMARY This role is dedicated to safeguarding life and property through the enforcement of hospital policies and regulations. The incumbent conducts both floor and mobile patrols within the Emergency Department to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, staff, and hospital assets. Integral to SGMC Health's mission, this position assists individuals across the facility while adhering to all annual requirements for Georgia POST Certification. Additional responsibilities include a swift response to silent alarms, activation of the Cuddles Infant Security system when necessary, and vigilant monitoring of security cameras. The role also involves managing patient valuables—overseeing inventory, collection, and return—and receiving deceased bodies in the morgue with strict adherence to proper documentation protocols. Regular rounds on high-risk patients further reinforce the commitment to safety and comprehensive care.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High School Diploma preferred. Previous Hospital Security experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Georgia POST Certified (Power of Arrest).
- Two years of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer.
- Extensive walking. Physical interaction with disruptive persons. Dealing with people in stressful situations. Occasional hours on evening shifts and weekends.
