Position Summary
The Oncology Data Management Coordinator is involved in all aspects of the cancer program including case finding, abstracting, follow-up, quality control, conducting special studies, assisting in preparation of cancer program annual report, coordination of cancer-related conferences, data analysis, development and maintenance of policies and procedures and supervision of Oncology Data Management staff. Oncology Data Management Coordinator is also responsible for assuring accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer through program standards compliance. The Oncology Data Management Coordinator reports to the Administrative Director, Oncology Service Line.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Considerable mental effort requiring excellent communication skills. Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to do a fair amount of walking. Must be able to bend and stretch in order to retrieve charts from shelf. Voice communication, hearing and eyesight necessary. Must be able to lift in excess of 5 lbs. Must be able to do extended amounts of reading. Must have high tolerance for stress and pressure at times. Must be able to lift in excess of 5 lbs. Must be able to do extended amounts of reading. Must have high tolerance for stress and pressure at times.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree required
- National Cancer Registrars Association certification, Oncology Data Specialist (ODS, ODS-C) required
- Supervisory experience required
- Experience with automated tumor registry departments required
- Excellent writing and telephone skills
- Advanced computer and word processing skills required
- Strong organization skills
- Musty be able to work with little or no supervision
- Self-motivated
- Easily adaptable to unexpected change
- Must be able to converse professionally and appropriately with many different types of people, including referring physicians, patients and families and healthcare professionals.
- Understands difference in emotion, physical and communication needs of all age groups.
- Ability to organize and maintain department fiscal responsibilities.
- Knowledge and ability to develop and maintain policies and procedures based on ACoS and hospital guidelines.
