Position Summary:
Articulate, high-energy professional with 5 years of Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations experience. Develops and communicates information as needed to promote the organization, service lines, management, staff, nurses, and physicians in a positive manner. Manages a multitude of responsibilities related to health system marketing and corporate communication.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications related field required.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years work experience using public relations and corporate communication/marketing skills.
- Previous experience in healthcare Public Relations/Marketing preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign and Illustrator) required. Uses photojournalistic talents and desktop publishing skills daily. Also uses computer language (HTML) to update web platforms.
- Must possess leadership qualities and organizational skills to manage a multitude of stressful responsibilities at once. Must be able to type, file, organize, and retrieve data efficiently.
- Maintains the internal and external online platforms, such as the website and intranet.
- Must write and communicate clearly for a diverse population. Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all campuses.
- Must be flexible in work schedule to plan and assist with night and weekend events & crisis communication.

Considerable sitting, standing, lifting, and walking required. Primarily an indoor office situation with comfortable conditions. Occasional hours on evening shift and weekends for special projects and events. Occasional extra hours during disaster exercises or actual emergencies.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researches information and produces internal communications that are timely and accurate to increase organizational awareness.
- Solicits positive internal news (Employee Highlights, DAISY Winners, patient testimonials, hospital events, hospital awards) and shares via social media, press releases, the intranet, emails, and website. Interviews and maintains positive interactions with affiliated physicians and staff. Manages and performs timely updates of information to the system-wide Intranet.
- Oversee health system photography and videography needs, including taking and editing photos, filming footage, and scheduling/coordinating photo and video shoots. Adheres to SGMC Health Policy for Photography of Patients
- Oversees and trains department liaisons to keep intranet data accurate and compliant.
- Composes press releases and other external communications accurately and timely to reflect the Strategic Plan and vision. Deploys successful marketing campaigns from creation to execution, tracking publication impact. This includes scheduling advertising, buying radio airtime, and coordinating services with contract ad agencies. Produces camera-ready copy for various print publications by the deadline. Proofs and edits all work meticulously to ensure materials reflect a positive image.
- Fosters and continually enhances media relationships.
- Creates electronic fliers, invitations, event programs, patient information handbooks, etc. Creates original artwork for online platforms. Collaborates with vendors and staff to facilitate the print process. Manages SGMC Health’s brand and the appropriate use of logos and marketing collateral. Develops new logos as needed.
- Responds timely to media calls for information and facilitates timely requests for interviews and photographs. Maintains HIPAA compliance for the release of information. Facilitates the Director in the implementation of Emergency Management Procedures and Crisis Communication.
- Develops and schedules messaging for social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). Experienced in accessing and comprehending web analytics for websites and social media. Uses SEO and paid advertising to strategically boost messaging and achieve higher impressions.
- Monitors and responds to inappropriate online reviews (Google, social media). Escalates issues as needed to appropriate managers and risk management.
- Work closely with the Marketing Director to ensure hospital, service line, and physician information is current and correct online across multiple platforms (website, Google, social media, Healthgrades, etc.)
- Works cross-functionally with other departments to develop and execute content to support, protect, and promote the brand.
- Oversees the health system's Annual Report
- Oversees the development, implementation, and reporting of Community Health Needs Assessments on each campus.
