SGI is seeking a Law Clerk to provide legal research, analysis, and case support services to attorneys handling criminal and civil matters. The Law Clerk will support attorneys by reviewing case materials, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with case preparation. The role supports efforts to address criminal activity and enforce immigration laws by providing direct legal support on assigned matters. The Law Clerk will provide support to assigned attorneys but will not appear in court to represent the United States.

Job Duties
- Oversee case-related processes involving habeas corpus and immigration habeas matters, including receiving and docketing filings, calendaring deadlines, and coordinating with attorneys and support staff to locate necessary case materials
- Assist with preparing draft responses for attorney review and ensure timely filing of responses in accordance with court deadlines
- Conduct legal research and analysis of statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agency regulations, and legal publications relevant to assigned cases
- Support attorneys by summarizing pertinent facts, legal issues, and applicable case law
- Draft correspondence, legal memoranda, and other legal documents for attorney review and signature
- Prepare draft orders for review and signature by judges and magistrates
- Work with attorneys to identify applicable statutory and regulatory requirements and evaluate potential legal issues, defenses, violations, or causes of action
- Review case files and supporting materials to identify relevant facts and legal considerations
- Maintain familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local laws and monitor changes in criminal and civil rules and procedures
- Identify and communicate potential legal issues discovered during case reviews and analysis

Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain adjudication for the required background investigation
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and licensed by a state bar
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional legal or other relevant experience following receipt of a J.D.
- Ability to utilize law library resources and conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, CourtLink, or similar platforms
- Proficiency with standard computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to perform basic computer functions required to support legal casework
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with attorneys, support staff, court personnel, witnesses, business representatives, and members of the public
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly and diplomatically
