Schedule: 40 hours per week (Full-Time, 2 month with possible extension W2 Contract)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Supervisor to join our team in Houston, TX. The role involves performing visual and precision instrument inspections of manufactured parts for dimensional and GD&T accuracy. You will also conduct specialized inspections using CMM, Portable Arm, and Portable Scanner to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
In this position, you will work closely with multiple internal departments, including Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Accounting, and Shipping/Receiving, and may occasionally coordinate with external contractors. Daily work is assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor and/or determined by project needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on products, including packaging and packing of components and valves, per approved procedures and instructions.
- Conduct non-destructive examinations (NDE) and maintain detailed records per established quality standards.
- Prepare and process Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any parts not meeting requirements.
- Document and process nonconformances in the SAP Client module as required.
- Manage and maintain documentation flow, including heat numbers and vendor certifications.
- Witness internal testing procedures to verify accuracy of results.
- Interpret and execute Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors to verify completion of customer requests.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient with precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and plug gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Skilled in reviewing Material Test Reports (MTRs) for ASTM/ASME material grades.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, testing equipment, and assembly procedures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in the valve industry preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Certification in Magnetic Particle (MT) and/or Liquid Penetrant (PT) Testing preferred.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with traditional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, hardness checks, PMI, etc.).
