SGA provides a wide range of social services in some of Chicago's most challenged and consistently underserved communities and creates long-term and community-wide change.
The Let’s Talk About program is focused on enhancing positive youth development by increasing awareness around sexual risk avoidance education (SREA), through communitywide education, facilitated sessions with youth, and family engagement.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule, coordinate, and arrange logistics for outreach, training, and community events.
- Experience in a school-based setting.
- Conduct outreach to market and coordinate trainings targeting a variety of stakeholders including but not limited to schools, libraries, park districts, social service organizations, etc.
- Facilitate discussion between parents and youth to enhance conversations around development, sexual health, and communication.
- Build a network of prevention resources to be available to the community.
- Provide community awareness to decrease stigma against people making positive choices for healthy relationships.
- Collect data on activities conducted and submit data entry and maintenance of in-person and virtual trainings or information session.
- Work cooperatively with other community agencies, as appropriate, and in agreement with supervisor.
- Assist in development of promotional and marketing materials
- Responsible for all administrative duties and requirements to the program, including but not limited to, reporting requirements, documentation of activities, submission of all required paperwork, preparing purchase orders, etc.
- Participate in community network meetings and funder required meetings and training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
- High School education required; Associates Degree preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with training and community engagement
- Other:
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals and community groups.
- Outstanding communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Great integrity and a proven ability to operate as a team player.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees, or the organization.
- Must demonstrate the ability to establish helping relationships with families of varying educational, experiential, and socio-economic backgrounds and handle emergency and crisis situations.

- Takes the initiative to complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Function effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion and independent judgment in executing tasks.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Competent in Microsoft Office tools and inputting services in an online database.
- Bilingual/Bicultural in English and Spanish preferred.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Ability to work varying hours Monday - Friday; Schedule may include evenings and weekends.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile? Insurance required for work-related travel?
- Reliable transportation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
- Must be able to frequently move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
- Frequently moves desks, chairs, tables, easels, and children's toys.
- At times may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various classrooms and events needs.
- Frequently moves in outdoor weather conditions.
Salary : $45,000
