USD 480 in Liberal, KS is currently accepting applications for the position of SMRS Head Cheer Coach 2026-2027 School Year
Preference will be given to those candidates who have or are eligible for a current Kansas teaching license (teaching assignment to be determined).
MS Cheer Season is June- March. T/Th Practices.
The Head Middle School Cheer Coach is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the middle school cheer program. This includes planning and conducting structured practices, instructing proper cheer techniques, choreography, and skill development, and preparing the squad for performances at games, pep rallies, and school events. The head coach must collaborate effectively with the assistant coach, administration, and other school personnel.
- Plan and conduct organized practices, including conditioning and skill development
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school events
- Coordinate and implement routines, cheers, and performances
- Promote and model teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit
- Ensure all safety protocols and district guidelines are consistently followed
- Oversee the organization, distribution, and maintenance of uniforms, equipment, and program needs
- Maintain clear and effective communication with athletes, parents, and school staff
- Demonstrate availability for evening practices and related responsibilities (T/Th 5:30-7:30 PM) throughout the season)
- Attend and supervise cheerleaders at all assigned home football and basketball games.
