Duties

- Deliver engaging lessons on social sciences topics such as history, geography, government, and economics using AP style and instructional design best practices.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to foster a positive learning environment conducive to active participation and respectful discourse.
- Incorporate assessment tools including standardized testing preparation and formative assessments to monitor student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school initiatives to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance, behavior management strategies, and academic advising.
- Implement IT-integrated lessons that utilize library services, research tools, and educational technology platforms to enrich instruction.
- Mentor students in developing writing skills through creative writing exercises, research projects, and proofreading activities aligned with Chicago Manual of Style standards.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and special education needs ensuring equitable access to education for all students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field
- Valid teaching certification for middle school social studies or equivalent credentials.
- Proven classroom experience working with teenagers in middle school settings; private school experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and educational compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with AP (Advanced Placement) programs and standardized testing procedures.
- Proficiency in educational technology integration including learning management systems and digital resources.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Demonstrated ability in classroom management, behavior management strategies, and working with diverse student populations.
- Experience with higher education teaching or tutoring in social sciences or related disciplines such as linguistics or journalism is advantageous.
