What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pump Room Operator position at Seymour of Sycamore?
Work Hours: Monday – Thursday, 10 hour shifts
Job Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Pump Room Supervisor, is responsible for maintaining a continuous flow of paint to the production lines with minimal interruptions.
Job Duties:
- Reviews production schedules to see what batches will be run each day.
- Matches up pre-mixed products to schedules, using Tote Numbers and Batch/Formula Numbers.
- Ensures each tote of product is properly mixed, prior to setting up the pumping lines.
- Weighs samples of pre-mixed products to ensure they are correct. If there are issues with the weight per gallon, notifies Supervisor.
- Fills out paperwork with name, clock number, date, weight per gallon and line product is being run on, to create a traceable paper trail if there are any issues with the product in the future.
- Moves full product containers to correct Paint Lines.
- Ensures pump lines have been properly cleaned out prior to hooking up new products for processing.
- Hooks pump lines up to product containers, ensuring that there is no air in the lines.
- Notifies Line Leads that pump lines are ready.
- Monitors Line to ensure products are running correctly.
- Notifies Line Leads when product container is completed for new containers of the same product or product changeovers, as required.
- Removes empty product containers from Paint Line.
- Hooks up new containers of product as needed.
- Cleans out pump lines according to correct product protocols when scheduled product run is completed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Ability to distinguish colors necessary. Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions in English. Basic Math Skills required. Attention to detail a must. Ability to operate Forklifts and Pallet Jacks necessary. Some mechanical ability preferred, but not required. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. to chest height. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time necessary. Position requires working around chemicals, including solvents. Must be to wear a respirator and other safety related gear when needed.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
