Job Title: Full-Time Counselor

Position Summary:
SARC is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated full-time Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience providing therapeutic support to survivors of sexual assault, offering individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy services. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual counseling sessions to survivors of sexual assault and related trauma, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques (e.g., trauma-informed care, CBT, EMDR).
- Facilitate group therapy for survivors, focusing on healing, empowerment, and coping skills.
- Offer crisis intervention and emotional support for clients in distress, including those in immediate need of safety planning or intervention.
- Assess the mental health needs of clients and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Provide short-term and long-term support, ensuring a consistent and caring therapeutic relationship.
- Collaborate with other team members to coordinate services and ensure holistic care for clients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client sessions, treatment plans, and progress notes, in accordance with agency policies and confidentiality standards.
- Participate in weekly clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in sexual assault counseling and trauma-informed care.
- Conduct outreach and educational presentations to community groups and organizations on sexual assault awareness and prevention, as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide emergency support for clients, including evenings or weekends as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (required).
- Valid and active state licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of direct clinical experience working with survivors of sexual assault, trauma, or related fields (preferred).
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Ability to provide compassionate and empathetic support to survivors in various stages of recovery.
- Experience with crisis intervention and managing complex emotional reactions in high-stress situations.
- Familiarity with legal and ethical considerations in working with survivors of sexual violence.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
- Must be committed to cultural humility, diversity, and inclusion in both practice and client care.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of local community resources and legal systems for sexual assault survivors.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time, on-site position.
- Some evening or weekend hours may be required for client support, outreach, or on-call rotation.
- Emotional resilience and self-care practices are essential for managing the demands of this role.
- The role may require occasional travel for community outreach, training, or conferences.
