What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Seward Screw, LLC?
We are seeking self-motivated, hands-on individuals to join our entrepreneurial company located in Seward, IL - just a 15-minute drive from southwest Rockford.

Role and Responsibilities
A. POSITIVE AND COOPERATIVE ATTITUDE
B. pull material for any job sheets left on desk from previous shift
C. collect daily planned jobs material lists from each supervisor for that day
D. verify which jobs require material to be brought to machine
E. pull material as needed i.e. low or out, enough to run both shifts
F. unload material trucks in a timely manner as they arrive each day
G. confirm delivered material matches packing list and record any discrepancies
H. create material tags in m2m system with all available info. Include part #, heat #, description, quantity and job # if available
I. spray paint bar ends according to designations on purchase order
J. delivered signed packing list to buyer
K. record material added or removed from racks
L. investigate inventory discrepancies and count all available material in question
M. stack material safely and neatly so stacks are secure
N. locate material for storage as close to area used as possible
O. keep customer supplied material segregated from our material
P. if bundles of material are to be split make a copy of the material tag so each bundle is identified
Q. notify supervisor of any discrepancies found throughout the day so further investigation can be completed
R. obtain traveler from material handler mailbox for any bar marking jobs
S. setup bar marker according to the print and produce a first piece
T. submit first piece to quality for approval
U. upon approval run bar marker on number of bars required for job
V. check with supervisor toward the end of shift to ensure all material needs have been satisfied and the next shift is setup properly
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to learn new things
- Able to work self-directed
- Good verifiable attendance record
- Lift, push, pull - standing are all physical requirements
- Basic understanding of computers and their use
- Strong visual observation and critical thinking skills
- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
- A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
- Proven forklift skills are a must
