We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide exceptional care for a client in their home with experience or interest in supporting clients living with dementia. The ideal candidate understands the importance of structure, reassurance, and person-centered care to ensure the client’s comfort, dignity, and safety.
Shift Details:
- Hours: 8am to 6 PM
- Availability: Mon to Fri
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide full assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, and hygiene support.
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, including the use of a Hoyer lift or other mobility equipment (experience preferred; training available).
- Follow established daily routines to reduce confusion, anxiety, and behavioral triggers.
- Provide cueing, redirection, and reassurance during episodes of confusion, agitation, wandering, or sundowning.
- Prepare meals and provide feeding assistance as needed, while monitoring food and fluid intake.
- Maintain a calm, structured, and safe environment to minimize fall risk and behavioral distress.
- Engage the client in simple, meaningful activities appropriate to their cognitive level (e.g., music, sensory activities, reminiscing, gentle conversation).
- Monitor and document changes in condition, behavior, appetite, mobility, or mood and report concerns promptly.
- Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe living space.
- Run essential errands such as grocery shopping or prescription pick-up as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience caring for individuals with moderate to advanced dementia preferred.
- Understanding of dementia-related behaviors and effective de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and compassionate in challenging situations.
- Physically able to assist with transfers and mobility support.
- Strong observation and communication skills.
