Job Summary
Sewa Child Care is seeking a caring, energetic, and experienced Temporary Lead Preschool Teacher to lead our mixed-age classroom of children 2 to 4 years old. This position is a temporary replacement for a teacher on leave and is expected to last approximately 1–2 months, with the possibility of continued employment based on the needs of the center.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where children can develop socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, demonstrates strong classroom management skills, and is committed to providing high-quality early childhood education.
Responsibilities
- Lead a mixed-age classroom of children ages 2–4 years.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate daily activities and lesson plans.
- Conduct circle time, early literacy, math, science, art, music, sensory activities, and gross motor activities.
- Foster children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development.
- Create a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.
- Maintain daily classroom routines and schedules.
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their health and safety.
- Assist with potty training and other self-help skills as needed.
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding each child's daily activities and progress.
- Work collaboratively with assistant teachers and the Center Director.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized classroom.
- Follow all Texas Child Care Licensing regulations and center policies.
- Participate in staff meetings and required training.
- Perform other classroom duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience as a preschool or childcare teacher is required.
- Experience leading a classroom is strongly preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass all required background checks and licensing requirements.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with young children throughout the day.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDA, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Experience working in a Texas licensed childcare center.
- Bilingual (English plus Arabic or Spanish) is a plus.
