Sew More Couture is seeking an experienced Bridal & Formalwear Seamstress/Tailor to join our professional alterations team.
We are an established, highly rated tailoring and bridal alterations studio specializing in wedding gowns, formal dresses, suits, and special-occasion garments. We are looking for someone who is confident behind the sewing machine and can complete professional-quality alterations with limited supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional alterations on wedding gowns and formalwear
- Hem single- and multi-layer gowns and dresses
- Take garments in and let garments out
- Adjust bodices, side seams, straps, and waistlines
- Replace and alter zippers
- Work with linings, lace, tulle, satin, chiffon, and other formalwear fabrics
- Perform basic bridal bodice and cup adjustments
- Complete bustles and other bridal alterations based on experience
- Work with beaded and embellished garments
- Press and finish garments professionally
- Maintain Sew More Couture's quality standards
- Complete assigned garments within established deadlines
Qualifications
Professional sewing or alterations experience is required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong garment construction and alteration skills
- Experience using industrial sewing machines
- Ability to work independently
- Understanding of garment fit and construction
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to follow alteration markings and instructions
- Experience working with bridal or formalwear strongly preferred
- Tailoring experience with women's or men's suits is a plus
This is not an entry-level sewing position. Applicants should already be comfortable completing alterations professionally.
Schedule
Part-time and/or contract opportunities available.
Schedule can be discussed based on experience and availability. Some weekend availability is preferred.
