Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Lead all federal, state, and local income tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing of returns and extensions, within a fully remote operating model.
- Manage tax audits, notices, and inquiries from taxing authorities; coordinate responses and resolutions in collaboration with remote internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with evolving tax laws, regulations, and interpretations affecting the organization.
- Own all aspects of income tax accounting under ASC 740, including quarterly and annual tax provisions, deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, and financial statement disclosures.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting to ensure accurate and timely tax impacts in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across a distributed team structure.
- Serve as the primary tax contact for external auditors, supporting SOX and financial statement audits.
- Design, implement, and maintain a strong internal control environment over tax processes, ensuring SOX and audit readiness.
- Establish and document tax policies, procedures, and governance frameworks that support consistency, transparency, and accountability across locations.
- Proactively identify tax risks and exposures and develop mitigation strategies.
- Lead a technology-forward tax strategy, leveraging tax software, ERP capabilities, workflow tools, and automation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
- Drive initiatives to modernize tax provision, compliance, and close processes, reducing manual effort and spreadsheet dependency.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a remote tax team, fostering engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors and service providers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective collaboration.
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing clear and timely tax insights in support of strategic decision-making.
- Provide tax analysis and guidance for business initiatives, transactions, and operational changes.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization.
- Align tax strategy with broader corporate objectives and long-term financial plans.

- Manages assigned personnel. Completes performance evaluations, orientation, and training. Makes decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves employee problems within position responsibilities.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA and/or JD strongly preferred
- 10 – 13 years of progressive tax experience, including leadership roles
- Deep expertise in tax compliance and ASC 740 tax accounting
- Proven ability to operate effectively and build strong controls in a fully remote environment
Preferred
- Experience in a $1B revenue organization or similarly complex enterprise
- Prior experience in a public company or SOX-regulated environment
- Demonstrated success implementing tax technology and automation solutions
