Parent Partner

Mentor Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, believes children belong in the family home whenever it is safe and possible. Through our Family Support Services, we help families of youth at risk with complex mental health, behavioral and other needs overcome the challenges they face together. Our diverse, multilingual specialists support families from a wide range of backgrounds who may be facing out of home placements or reunification.

As a Parent Partner for California MENTOR Family Support Services, a member of the Sevita family, you’ll provide guidance to individuals through your prior personal experience as a parent or guardian of a child who’s been involved in the care system. Each day, the connections you make and the compassion you bring make a difference in the lives of our participants. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team of clinical staff and supportive supervisors, while you grow your career.

Annual Salary: $44,990.40 (Salary plus overtime)

Responsibilities

• Guidance to parents/caregivers who have children being served through the system, sharing and relating your own prior experience
• Advocacy and liaison services between the families, children, clinician, treatment staff, community agencies, and services
• Participates as a member of the Child and Family Team (CFT), trainings, court review hearings, IEP, and other meetings and assists the parents/caregivers in bringing up and discussing difficult issues
• Lead or co-lead individual and parent counseling groups providing education, consultation, or other needed services
• Documentation and record-keeping
• Provide services in the home and community - Flexibility with schedule
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior personal experience as a parent or legal guardian of a child who has been involved with the system (DCFS, probation, Regional Center, Dept. of Mental Health or the like) required
• Probation and/or DCFS case must be closed for a minimum of one year
• Two years of experience in a mental health setting strongly preferred
• Valid driver license for 1 year minimum, reliable transportation with registration and insurance.
