Job Title: Lower School Preschool Teaching Assistant
Supervisor: Lower School Head
Start Date: August 2026
General Summary: Severn School is searching for a Teaching Assistant to work in our preschool. Hours for the position are Monday through Friday 7:45am-3:15pm.
Essential Functions: The candidate will support the lead teacher and teaching team with promoting a positive classroom community that instills a love of learning and exploration, assists with implementing lessons, preparing materials, working with individual and small groups of students, supervising students, and completing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate has a natural, genuine joy of working with young children, understands developmental milestones of young children and learners, is organized, has good communication and collaboration skills, willingness to learn new ideas and has experience working with preschool and/or prekindergarten children. A BA or BS Degree in a related field and/or coursework in Early Childhood education, 90 hour certificate is preferred. Candidates also must complete all pre-service paperwork required by MSDE Office of Child Care.
