Location: USSS Rowley Training Center (RTC), Laurel, MD; with support to Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) Georgia and FLETC Artesia

Travel: 10%

Position Summary: The Cognitive Performance Specialist (CPS) provides expertise in applied psychology, mental skills development, and performance optimization to enhance the resilience, focus, and cognitive readiness of USSS personnel. The CPS designs and delivers training programs, conducts individual and group coaching, and assists in developing resiliency curriculum and wellness initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group coaching in stress management, performance focus, and resiliency

• Develop and deliver classroom instruction for Health and Resiliency classes

• Support resiliency program development and curriculum creation in collaboration with USSS leadership

• Evaluate and report the effectiveness of mental performance training programs.

• Attend briefings, meetings, and educational sessions as directed by the COR or Training Center leadership

• Maintain readiness to perform both indoor and outdoor duties under all environmental conditions

Required Skills and Abilities:

• U.S. citizenship/residency required

• Must have a favorable Public Trust background investigation

• Undergo a Suitability Assessment as determined by the US Secret Service’s Security Management Division’s Contractor Support Branch (SMD-CSB) prior to performing any work

• Master’s degree in clinical counseling or sport psychology or related field or a current certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC)

• Maintain professional certifications annually at own expense

• Possess, at a minimum, 10 years of experience working as a Cognitive Performance Specialist with US military special operations personnel, or professional sports athletes

• Possess a minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience which can be concurrent with Cognitive Performance Experience

• Experience in designing and implementing mental skills development drills and programs

• Experience in the evaluation of effectiveness of mental performance services

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the IC is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The IC frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The IC must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
