OverviewPOSITION OVERVIEW
The O&M Technician will be a hands-on member of Seven Oaks Solar's field operations team, working directly with and alongside the Vice President of Operations and other technical staff. The position supports solar site inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, basic diagnostics, equipment testing, documentation, and field readiness. The Technician will help identify and document issues, assist with troubleshooting and repairs within training and qualification limits, and support safe, reliable operation of solar assets.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct site inspections and preventive-maintenance activities on solar photovoltaic systems.
Support corrective maintenance, component replacement, and minor mechanical repairs within assigned training and qualification limits.
Inspect modules, racking, wiring, connectors, combiner boxes, inverters, and other balance-of-system equipment.
Assist qualified team members with electrical testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostic work.
Support thermal, visual, drone, IV-curve, insulation-resistance, and other diagnostic activities as trained and qualified.
Document site conditions, deficiencies, work performed, parts used, photographs, and follow-up needs.
Read and follow site plans, equipment manuals, checklists, work orders, and manufacturer documentation.
Maintain company tools, PPE, test equipment, vehicles, and field supplies in safe working condition.
Follow lockout/tagout, electrical-safety, fall-protection, job-hazard-analysis, and site-specific safety procedures.
Represent Seven Oaks Solar professionally while working at customer sites and communicate field observations clearly to the Vice President of Operations and technical team.
Travel to customer sites across the region, including occasional multi-day or overnight trips.
QUALIFICATIONS
Safety-minded, dependable, organized, and comfortable working outdoors and in active field environments.
Previous experience in solar, electrical work, industrial maintenance, construction, controls, or another technical trade preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and solar O&M troubleshooting.
Ability to follow technical instructions, checklists, drawings, and safety procedures.
Ability to document work accurately and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, mobile applications, and cloud-based file or reporting systems.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
TRAINING & CERTIFICATION PATH
OSHA 10-Hour : held or completed early in employment.
First Aid / CPR / AED.
Lockout/Tagout training appropriate to assigned duties.
NFPA 70E electrical-safety awareness; qualified-person training before performing qualified electrical work.
NABCEP PV Associate or Operations & Maintenance Associate Technician (OMAT) recommended development credential.
Equipment-specific training for meters, torque tools, lifts, thermal equipment, and site equipment as assigned.
Manufacturer-specific inverter and equipment training as needed.
PHYSICAL & FIELD REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods, including on uneven terrain.
Ability to safely use ladders and access elevated equipment when required and permitted by company procedures.
Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, wind, rain, and direct sunlight.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and safely operate a company vehicle.
