Duties
We’re seeking a vibrant, reliable, and mission-aligned Afterschool Coordinator to lead our program for children ages 2–10. This individual will manage daily operations of the afterschool program, ensuring a fun, safe, and engaging space where students thrive and families feel supported.
🎯 Core Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Student Engagement
- Plan and implement enriching afterschool activities aligned with Montessori and play-based learning principles.
- Cultivate a safe, welcoming, and joyful atmosphere that supports students' emotional and social development.
- Supervise children during snack time, academic support, and enrichment blocks (arts, STEM, sports, etc.).
- Ensure appropriate behavior management strategies that align with our respectful and positive discipline approach.
Administrative Oversight
- Maintain accurate attendance and child check-in/out records.
- Ensure alignment with licensing standards and school policies.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding schedules, student behavior, and upcoming activities.
Team Collaboration
- Support assistant teachers or volunteers involved in the afterschool program.
- Attend regular team meetings and professional development workshops.
- Foster a culture of grace, courtesy, and shared ownership within the school community.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED (minimum); Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
Must meet Georgia Bright from the Start requirements for Group Leader or higher.
Minimum 1 year of experience working in a licensed childcare or afterschool program.
CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Passion for early childhood education and student success.
Physically able to lift 40 lbs, engage in outdoor play, and move freely throughout the classroom and playground.
Nice To Haves
Montessori or Reggio Emilia experience.
Fluent in Spanish.
Familiarity with Brightwheel or other early childhood software.
Experience coordinating events, clubs, or community projects.
