Our Contents Team plays a critical role in protecting, documenting, and restoring customers’ personal belongings during fire and smoke restoration projects. These items often carry both financial and personal value, and they must be handled with exceptional care and organization.
We are seeking a Contents Technician Lead who can take ownership of contents operations in the field while guiding technicians through pack-out, cleaning, inventory, storage, and pack-back activities.
Position Summary
The Contents Technician Lead is responsible for leading contents pack-out and restoration operations while ensuring customer belongings are handled, documented, transported, and stored properly throughout the restoration process.
This role combines hands-on field work with team leadership and operational coordination. The Lead Technician directs daily tasks for contents technicians, ensures accurate inventory documentation, maintains quality and safety standards, and supports project managers in keeping restoration projects moving efficiently.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, organization, and accountability, while maintaining professionalism and empathy when interacting with customers experiencing property loss.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Crew Coordination
- Lead contents technicians during pack-outs, pack-backs, cleaning, and restoration activities.
- Assign tasks, monitor work quality, and ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
- Provide guidance and training to technicians on proper packing, documentation, and restoration procedures.
- Ensure all contents handling meets company standards and insurance documentation requirements.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of coordination for contents operations.
Fire Loss Pack-Out & Customer Contents Handling
- Lead on-site pack-outs at fire loss properties, ensuring all belongings are properly packed, wrapped, labeled, and inventoried.
- Photograph and document items for insurance claims and internal tracking.
- Carefully handle furniture, electronics, artwork, clothing, appliances, and household goods.
- Supervise safe loading and unloading of company vehicles.
- Coordinate pack-back operations and final placement of customer contents after restoration is complete.
Contents Cleaning & Restoration
- Oversee the cleaning and deodorization of fire- and smoke-damaged contents using approved restoration methods.
- Perform and supervise detailed hand-cleaning of salvageable items.
- Operate and monitor specialized restoration equipment including HEPA vacuums, ozone machines, and hydroxyl units.
- Ensure items are properly prepared for cleaning, storage, transport, or return delivery.
Inventory Management & Documentation
- Maintain accurate inventory records using company systems (manual logs, digital platforms, photo documentation, or barcoding).
- Ensure all items are properly tracked from pack-out through storage and return delivery.
- Identify and immediately report damaged, missing, or high-value items.
- Support project documentation required for insurance and internal records.
- Assist project managers with contents status updates and job documentation.
Warehouse Operations & Logistics
- Coordinate staging, transport, and storage of customer belongings between job sites and warehouse.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment.
- Ensure contents are stored according to insurance guidelines and company procedures.
- Assist with inventory audits and loss-prevention practices.
- Support efficient movement of contents and materials to keep restoration projects on schedule.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Ensure technicians consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow proper lifting, carrying, and material-handling procedures.
- Conduct Forklift Operator Checklists and file documentation as required.
- Maintain valid forklift certification when required for warehouse operations.
- Identify and report safety hazards, incidents, or injuries immediately.
Customer Communication & Professional Representation
- Interact with customers professionally and respectfully during pack-out and pack-back operations.
- Provide clear communication and reassurance during stressful restoration situations.
- Represent Sevco Restoration with professionalism, empathy, and integrity.
- Reinforce the company’s commitment to helping customers recover from property loss.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 2 years of experience in restoration, contents handling, moving/logistics, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate a small team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and emergency response shifts when required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fire or smoke restoration environments
- IICRC certifications (WRT, FSRT, or related restoration certifications)
- Experience with digital inventory or contents documentation systems
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire
- Experience operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks
- Familiarity with insurance restoration workflows and documentation requirements

Physical Demands

Compensation & Benefits
- $23.00 – $26.00 per hour depending on experience
- Overtime pay in accordance with California law
