Position Summary
The Customer Service Associate (CSA) plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and community-centered shopping experience. As a primary point of contact for members and customers, the CSA provides exceptional service, supports front-end operations, and upholds cooperative values in every interaction.
In addition to customer engagement responsibilities, the CSA is cross-trained to provide cashier coverage as needed, ensuring seamless operations during peak hours, staff absences, and operational demands.
Essential Responsibilities
Member & Customer Engagement
- Greet members and customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance
- Answer questions about products, store policies, promotions, and membership benefits
- Support new member sign-ups and explain cooperative ownership
- Resolve customer concerns respectfully and escalate when appropriate
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment aligned with cooperative values
Cashier Coverage & Transaction Support
- Provide cashier coverage when scheduled or when operationally necessary
- Accurately operate point-of-sale (POS) systems
- Process cash, credit, debit, EBT, and other approved payment methods
- Issue receipts, refunds, exchanges, and store credits according to policy
- Maintain accountability and accuracy when handling cash and electronic payments
- Balance and reconcile cash drawers when assigned cashier responsibilities
Store Operations & Team Support
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of checkout and front-end areas
- Assist with stocking, merchandising, and product presentation
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and loss prevention procedures
- Support store promotions, events, and cooperative initiatives
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail, customer service, or cashiering experience preferred
- Basic math skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Willingness to be cross-trained and support cashier operations

- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
