The Design Lead is as a member of Sevan's architecture and design studio and works alongside a group of individuals to provide architectural services to our client programs. The Design Lead is responsible for producing accurate design and construction documents for our multi-site client in the big box / retail and fuels / gas station sectors, while leading and supporting other team members in achieving team goals. This position requires prior expertise in fuels design and architectural project management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepares complete, accurate and code compliant construction documents.
• Provides technical and creative design solutions that align with program intent.
• Advises on settings project design goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, etc.
• Applies client’s program requirements and designs criteria to existing buildings and structures.
• Responsible for determining the appropriate building components and their design application.
• Responsible for maintaining project design schedules, deadlines, and commitments for small and medium-scope assignments of average difficulty.
• Coordinates work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
• Notifies supervisor of changes in project scope and advises if a change order proposal is needed.
• Possesses a working knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements and provides such expertise to the assigned projects/programs.
• Conducts project due diligence with municipalities to determine local zoning and building code requirements.
• Accountable for resolving plan review comments from code officials.
• Accountable for design quality control and technical accuracy of team assignments.
• Assists the project liaison to code officials, outside consultants, suppliers, and contractors regarding questions of the construction documents.
• Confirms and verifies design requirements related to the project or program.
• Follows established standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
• Oversees and directs Senior Architectural Designers and ensuring high productivity and project success.
• Reviews / evaluates other’s work and provide productive feedback and technical direction.
• Proactively identifies, solves, or elevates project issues related to design, safety, or quality.
• Adheres to CAD/REVIT standards and follows assigned drafting protocol across all projects.
• May represent the company at client project meetings. Visits project sites to verify scope, exiting conditions and other related activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Architecture or equivalent
• 6 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Expertise in fuel / gas station architectural design and project management, required.
• Expertise working in REVIT, required.
• Experience in multi-site projects preferred.
• Demonstrated experience completing moderately difficult architectural assignments with minimal supervision.
• Able to execute and coordinate multiple projects at a time.
  
  

Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrated skills in design production management.
• Pursing Architect license, preferred.
• Able to articulate and apply comprehensive knowledge of architectural principles, practices, and advanced techniques.
• Demonstrated expertise in drawings, specifications, and building materials.
• Highly proficient working in AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, 3D Studio Max is preferred.
  
  

Work Conditions & Travel

This is a hybrid role out of our Downers Grove, IL headquarters or Bentonville, AR office, but may be remote based. A highly collaborative environment that flourishes when individual and team contributions combine to achieve target goals and objectives. The workplace is dynamic, fast-paced, and flexible. Able to work remotely in a home office setting and manage time effectively with multiple projects and deadlines. Travel on an as needed basis (0-10%). Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Pay & Benefits: The anticipated compensation range for the position is $70,000 - 90,000, is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, flexible paid time off, paid holidays, sick time, and a matching 401K plan.
