Learning Resource Coordinator

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under the supervision of the principal, the Learning Resource Coordinator is a person of faith who strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education; assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the school’s resource program to support diverse learners; develops and implements an instructional support program; maintains detailed and accurate records as required by the school; establishes positive school-community relationships; continues professional development to remain current with religious and academic certifications; performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Enhance and further develop a school-wide philosophy to support diverse learners. This will include parameters regarding the types of learning differences the school can and cannot support and the extent of accommodations within the school’s capacity.
2. Research and utilize learning and academic models, possible learning centers, and academic resource models for future implementation.
3. Collaborate with local Catholic elementary schools to facilitate the transition of incoming ninth-grade students with identified learning needs.
4. Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive transition program for students entering or exiting specialized support services.
5. Consult with current and prospective parents regarding available resources, the evaluation process, and available accommodations and resources both on campus and via outside entities.
6. Coordinate testing with public schools and/or districts to facilitate student testing and eligibility for support plans.
7. Develop and communicate student support plans with parents, students, and teachers.
8. Oversee and manage a caseload of all students with diagnosed learning needs.
9. Facilitate tiered support systems to ensure meaningful inclusion for all students, including those pursuing a Certificate of Completion.
10. Assess curriculum for diverse learners, including monitoring and implementing tiered interventions.
11. Maintain communication with parents and teachers regarding student progress.
12. Manage application process for standardized testing accommodations (ACT/Collegeboard) for students with support plans.
13.  Provide direct academic intervention to individual students who need support beyond the classroom setting.
14. Maintain the Resource Center with updated resources that provide learning tools for students and teachers. 
15. Equip teachers with curriculum resources and access to professional development to ensure the delivery of articulated accommodations.
16. Supervise ARC staff and faculty; and provide departmental oversight for ARC courses. 
17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or their designee.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Must demonstrate personal self-discipline, be adaptable and flexible in routine and unexpected situations.
2. Must use good judgment in daily encounters.
3. Must use verbal and written language correctly.
4. Must demonstrate an appropriate sense of humor.
5.  Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of good teaching techniques and child psychology.
6. Must maintain appropriate grooming and dress at all times as stated in the faculty handbook.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

1. Preference given to Catholic educators.
2. Must be willing to make a public Profession of Faith if Catholic and if non–Catholic willing to support Catholic teachings and philosophy.
3.  Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree. Preference is given to candidates with a graduate degree in special education.
4. Must be certified by the Arizona State Department of Education as a teacher.
5.  Received Safe Environment Training and signed the Code of Conduct.
6.  FBI Fingerprint clearance completed.
7.  Must meet Ministry Formation Certification and/or re-certification as required by Diocesan policy
