POSITION DESCRIPTION
A Waste Coordinator at SET Environmental is responsible for:
- Preparing shipments to SET and other established waste vendors
- Being the point of contact person if there are compliance related issues regarding wastes
- Housekeeping in 90-day waste storage area, which includes required inspections and quality control of outgoing loads prior to leaving the site
- Ensuring the load is acceptable per DOT regulations and requirements
- Tracking the material once it leaves the site up until the return manifest copy is received
- Performing weekly visual inspections of items such as satellite accumulation areas, perform sampling, and maintain waste management supplies
- To be a subject matter expert in all areas in concerning waste management
- Interacting with different multi-chem divisions daily via phone, email, and in meetings
- Meet at least weekly with designated stakeholder(s) to discuss the program status, upcoming shipments, compliance issues, and/or any potential problem areas
- Provide ideas and recommendations concerning waste minimization, elimination, and by-product reuse/recycling during update meetings. Project tracking, status reports, and documentation of hazardous waste reduction, landfill avoidance, and cost reductions to-date and projected are also required for these meetings
- Performing other miscellaneous duties as necessary
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor' Degree in environmental studies or related field preferred
- Must have 2 years of practical field experience including hazardous waste handling, lab packing, chemical consolidation, manifesting, and scheduling rental containers
- Competent computer skills, including MS Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven self-starter and highly motivated
- Obtain and keep current all certifications/licenses required(i.e.40-hour HAZWOPER training, forklift certification, medical certification including respirator use)
- Must have knowledge of all RCRA and DOT regulations
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
