Position Summary
Souders Industries is seeking an experienced and results-driven Materials Manager to oversee the planning, procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and material flow activities that support our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure the right materials are available at the right time, optimize inventory levels, and drive continuous improvements throughout the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing, expediting, inventory control, and all warehouse operations.
- Develop and maintain material requirements plans (MRP) to support production schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure material availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery, and service agreements.
- Analyze supply chain performance and implement process improvements to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Coordinate closely with production, engineering, quality, and finance teams.
- Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory, supplier performance, and material availability.
- Manage and develop a team of purchasing, planning, and warehouse personnel.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- Must have 5 years of experience in materials management, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Extensive procurement experience with a focus on purchasing strategies, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Qualifications
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent prefered.
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, or related industries.
- Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
- Proven experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of production planning and scheduling.
- Technical proficiency in ERP systems in supply chain management software.
- Strong knowledge of logistics inventory management, warehouse operations, demand planning, and inventory control techniques.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices and demand-driven supply chain methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments including production, logistics, procurement, and engineering.
