Location: Norwalk, CT

Comp Range: $60,000 - $80,000 (depends on experience)

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

SERVPRO of Stamford, a leader in the residential and commercial restoration industry specializing in water, mold, and fire -damaged properties, is seeking a high-performing Construction / Reconstruction Project Manager to join our team in Fairfield County.

 

This role is responsible for the full lifecycle management of residential and commercial reconstruction projects - from initial estimate through final closeout. The Project Manager will lead project scoping and estimating (Xactimate), budgeting, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and overall execution while serving as the primary liaison between clients, insurance carriers, office staff, and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage assigned residential and commercial reconstruction projects resulting from water, fire, and mold losses, overseeing all phases from initial site visit through final completion and closeout
  • Develop detailed project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules to ensure accurate planning and execution
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of construction, including subcontractors, materials, and timelines
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved scope, company standards, and industry best practices
  • Monitor project progress, proactively address challenges, and implement solutions to keep projects on track
  • Maintain high-quality standards while achieving profitability and margin targets
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget while ensuring customer satisfaction

 

Initial Job Site Visit

  • Conduct on-site inspections including measurements, photos, and Docusketch videos for insurance required or when applicable.
  • Discuss preliminary scope with responsible parties (homeowner, carrier, property manager, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit estimates within 48 hours for internal review.
  • Submit approved estimates to all responsible parties.
  • Update claim platforms (Xactanalysis, Cotality, etc.) as required.

 

Pre-Construction Planning (Upon Estimate Approval)

  • Conduct pre-construction meetings.
  • Create detailed project budgets prior to job start.
  • Ensure subcontractor pricing and agreements are reviewed and approved.
  • Develop a clear scope of work aligned with the approved estimate.
  • Establish a defined project schedule with start and completion dates.

 

Financial & Margin Accountability

  • Maintain responsibility for gross profit performance on assigned projects.
  • Proactively manage costs to meet or exceed company margin targets.
  • Monitor job costs in real time to prevent margin erosion.
  • Ensure subcontractor pricing aligns with approved job budgets.
  • Support company-wide financial and operational goals.

 

Subcontractor Management

  • Source, schedule, and oversee qualified subcontractors.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with scope, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Verify satisfactory completion of work prior to approving payments.

 

Customer Communication & Satisfaction

  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the reconstruction process.
  • Provide consistent communication regarding scope, timeline, and progress.
  • Address concerns promptly to avoid delays or disputes.
  • Obtain a signed Certificate of Satisfaction (COS) upon job completion.

 

Documentation & Job Closeout

  • Maintain accurate job files including budgets, schedules, invoices, and change orders.
  • Coordinate final inspections and punch lists.
  • Ensure documentation compliance prior to job closeout.
  • Support invoicing and collections efforts as needed.

 

Performance Expectations

  • Deliver projects on time, on budget, and per approved scope.
  • Protect company profitability through proactive planning and cost management.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Uphold SERVPRO operational and service standards.

 

Qualifications

  • 4 years of construction or reconstruction project management experience.
  • Insurance restoration experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Xactimate preferred).
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to recognize and solve problems independently and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to research, interview and hire subcontractors who possess the qualifications, work ethic and execution standard of the Servpro Team
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and accountable.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma/GED; required
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred

Schedule:

  • 8 Hour Day / 40 Hours Per Week Shift, required - Monday to Friday
  • Must be available for on-call rotation due to our 24-hour emergency services

 

On-Call Dispatcher:

  • As part of our 24-hour emergency services operation, employees are required to serve as an On-Call Dispatcher for one week per month or one week in 6/7 weeks, which is calendared in advance, covering after-hours shift.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment: This position will be in the field environment; not eligible for hybrid or remote. You are required to attend 8:15am morning WIP (Work-in-Progress) meetings.

Physical Demands: Work is performed in the field environment; you will be required to travel to job sites for residential and large losses or as required by management. Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds may be required.
