We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and leadership-minded Crew Chief to oversee field operations and manage a team of 4 technicians for our SERVPRO® franchise serving Eastern Long Island. You will work directly under our Production Manager and be responsible for executing jobs efficiently, maintaining quality standards, enforcing safety procedures, and delivering excellent customer service.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you will both manage the crew and work alongside them on restoration, mitigation, demolition, cleanup, and equipment setup tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, communicative, and thrives in a fast-moving environment where no two days look the same.
Key Responsibilities
Jobsite Leadership & Execution
- Lead and supervise a team of four technicians on all job sites.
- Execute daily restoration and mitigation tasks including water extraction, demolition, drying equipment setup, fire cleanup, and mold remediation prep.
- Ensure job completion meets SERVPRO® and IICRC standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain clear communication with the Production Manager regarding progress, issues, and upcoming needs.
- Coach and train technicians on proper procedures and best practices.
Customer Communication & Professionalism
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for homeowners, property managers, adjusters, and commercial clients.
- Communicate timelines, expectations, and job updates clearly and professionally.
- Uphold SERVPRO®’s reputation for high-quality work and exceptional customer service.
Documentation, Equipment & Vehicle Management
- Complete daily job documentation (photos, moisture readings, notes, time tracking) accurately and promptly.
- Manage SERVPRO® equipment and vehicles, ensuring proper use, maintenance, and cleanliness.
- Conduct daily vehicle and equipment checks before departing from the Southampton office.
- Follow inventory and equipment protocols to support efficient operations.
Collaboration with Production Manager
- Provide detailed job summaries, feedback, and suggestions for operational improvement.
- Assist in planning manpower allocation and equipment needs.
- Uphold all safety protocols and ensure crew compliance.
Qualifications Required
- 2–5 years of experience in restoration, construction, mitigation, or a related field.
- Experience leading a crew or readiness to step into a leadership role.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to drive SERVPRO® box trucks and vans.
- Must be local and able to report daily to our Southampton office.
- Comfortable working flexible hours (early mornings, occasional evenings/weekends depending on job demand).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical labor.
- Strong communication skills and customer-facing professionalism.
Preferred
- IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, FSRT, AMRT, etc.).
- Prior experience as a Crew Chief or Lead Technician.
- Experience with SERVPRO® DryBook or similar software.
- Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
