Water/Fire Restoration Crew Chief (IICRC Certified)
Sign-On Bonus: $1,200 – $1,500
When the call comes in at 2 a.m., who do you want running the job?
That's the person we're hiring.
We're looking for an experienced Crew Chief to lead mitigation crews on emergency losses across the Chicago suburbs. This isn't an entry-level job with a fancy title — you'll be the one executing the drying plan, setting containment and equipment, reading the moisture map, and looking a homeowner in the eye on the worst day of their year and telling them it's going to be okay.
If you already run jobs and you're tired of doing it without the equipment, the support, or the pay to match — read on.
What You'll Own
- Lead a crew of 2–4 technicians on water, fire, smoke, and mold losses from first response through final dry standard.
- Perform scope and damage assessment on arrival; identify Category and Class of water loss and assist Mitigation Production Manager’s build the drying plan.
- Set up and balance extraction, air movement, and dehumidification equipment; adjust based on daily psychrometric readings.
- Take and document moisture readings, photos, and daily job notes to carrier standards.
- Direct fire and smoke work — soot removal, deodorization, content cleaning, and controlled demo.
- Oversee mold remediation, containment builds, and negative air setups per IICRC S520.
- Enforce PPE and site safety on every job, every day. No exceptions.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for homeowners, property managers, and adjusters — answer questions, set expectations, and keep them calm and informed.
- Train and coach technicians. Your crew should be better six months from now because they worked for you.
- Manage equipment inventory, truck stock, and job-site cleanliness; report losses and maintenance needs.
- Participate in the on-call/emergency rotation. Restoration doesn't keep business hours.
