This isn't just about sitting behind a desk fixing devices—it's a dynamic role where you will manage student and staff devices, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, perform minor repairs, and deliver exceptional support to our educators and students.
Primary Responsibilities
- Student and Staff Support: Serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance. Provide friendly, patient, and efficient support via our helpdesk ticket system, over the phone, and in person.
- Device Management: Assist with the provisioning, deployment, imaging, and inventory management of district devices (including Chromebooks, laptops, iPads, and desktop computers).
- Troubleshooting & Minor Repairs: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues. Perform minor physical repairs on devices (e.g., replacing screens, keyboards, batteries).
- System & Network Support: Assist with basic network troubleshooting, classroom interactive displays, printers, and peripheral equipment setup.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of support tickets, inventory changes, and repair histories.
- Experience: Previous experience in a technical support, helpdesk, or geek-squad style environment is highly preferred. Experience working in an educational (K-12) setting is a plus!
- Technical Know-How: Comfort with multiple operating systems (ChromeOS, Windows, macOS, iOS). Basic knowledge of computer hardware components and a steady hand for minor repairs.
- The "People" Factor: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You can explain technical concepts to non-technical users without breaking a sweat or using heavy jargon.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A knack for resourcefulness. If you don't know the answer, you know how to find it.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (boxes of devices) and move around school buildings frequently.
- Requirements: Must pass a Maine Department of Education criminal history record check (CHRC) fingerprinting approval.
