The Ideal Candidate Will
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where all students feel valued, safe, and empowered to grow socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically.
- Provide and coordinate special education services for preschool-aged students across a variety of educational settings, ensuring services are implemented in alignment with student IEPs and individualized needs.
- Lead and facilitate IEP meetings, including developing compliant and meaningful IEPs, collaborating with families and service providers, and ensuring strong communication throughout the special education process.
- Participate in the evaluation process for students referred for special education services, including conducting assessments, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions and eligibility determinations.
- Collaborate with educational technicians to support instruction and service delivery by offering direction, modeling effective instructional strategies, and ensuring consistent implementation of both academic and behavioral programming.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in early childhood special education.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with students, families, service providers, community partners, and colleagues to support positive outcomes for young learners.
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom routines to meet the diverse developmental and educational needs of preschool students.
- Be available to engage in summer work on an as needed basis for referrals.
- Engage in meaningful and rewarding work that makes a lasting impact on young children and their families.
- Be an active part of a growing early childhood special education program, with the opportunity to help shape, design, and influence the development of programming, instructional practices, and systems of support for young learners and their families.
