Special Education Teacher, Grades 5-8 Life Skills
RSU 87 is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative candidate to join our special education team in supporting students with disabilities in grades 5-8. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, desire to be a part of a team, knowledge of special education paperwork and ability to teach literacy, math, functioning life skills and social skills. Maine DOE 282 or 286 endorsement preferred. A $2,000 stipend is provided.
The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate The Following
~Ability to provide specially designed instruction and consultation services in literacy, math, social skills and functioning life skills
~Experience implementing positive behavior intervention plans
~Experience writing IEPs
~Ability to coordinate and lead IEP meetings
~Experience completing special education paperwork
~Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations
~Excellent communication skills
~Ability to supervise educational technicians
~Willingness to be flexible
