Salary and work year to be established by the School Board and Superintendent.
Qualifications
~Four-year degree or two years food service management work, or a high school diploma with four years of practical food service management experience.
~Successful experience in a leadership role.
~Proven track record of a strong commitment to Child Nutrition programs.
~Valid DOE fingerprinting certification.

SUPERVISES: Approximately 40 Food Service Staff Members

SUPERVISES: Approximately 40 Food Service Staff Members
Performance Responsibilities
- Must have a positive attitude, pride in work performance and proprietary interest in the program.
- Prepares and administers the departmental budget.
- Purchases and maintains an inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment.
- Standardizes cafeteria accounting procedures in cooperation with the district comptroller's office.
- Arranges for audits of cafeteria accounts through approved auditors.
- Standardizes prices charged for various types of lunches, including the price of milk.
- Plans and supervises the preparation and serving of menus at all schools.
- Informs the public, through the local press, of planned lunch menus on a monthly basis.
- Plans and checks all menus for school lunches and special dinners.
- Supervises the planning and preparation of any special meals required for district-sponsored events.
- Standardizes as much as possible the size of portions served as related to lunch type.
- Provides assistance and suggestions for the preparation and serving of government surplus foods.
- Inspects school lunch facilities and operations to ensure that standards of diet, cleanliness, health, and safety are being maintained.
- Visits all lunchrooms and cafeterias as often as possible, check that high standards of health and safety are maintained, and observing possible improvements in operations.
- Reviews and evaluates all requests and recommendations for purchase of new and replacement equipment.
- Consults, as needed, with school planners and architects on plans and specifications for new or renovated food preparation centers.
- Assist building leaders and teachers in the instructional phases of the lunchroom program and in the classroom instructional units of work pertaining to nutrition.
- Administers personnel policies and evaluates cafeteria managers and head cooks.
- Standardizes personnel policies, levels of cleanliness, health, and safety.
- Interviews, screens, and recommends appointment of all cafeteria personnel.
- Checks all food service personnel payrolls.
- Checks all bills and purchase orders for accuracy before presenting them to the business manager for payment.
- Makes all applications for federal subsidies.
- Makes distribution of all federal funds to various school lunch/breakfast/snack programs.
- Makes applications for government surplus food for school cafeteria use, and directs its distribution and transfer.
- Plans disposition of government commodities as part of the ongoing food service program.
- Checks all government reimbursements.
- Other job-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
