Falmouth Elementary School seeks a dynamic and innovative early childhood special educator who shares our philosophy of inclusive education to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive an inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education. Programming focuses on providing early learners with inclusive special education programming to address a range of pre-academic, academic, functional, and adaptive needs. This role involves collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and other support staff to create a positive and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inclusive special education services to students with disabilities and developmental delays in grades PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade.
  • Serve as case manager for students with IEPs in early learning settings
  • Collaborate with early childhood team including teachers, services providers, and administrators to support inclusive special education services
  • Conduct educational assessments, including formal assessments as part of the special education evaluation process
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize data to support student programming
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records
  • Advise special education director and other administrators on expansion of PreK special education services

Qualifications

  • Must hold (or be eligible to hold) the required certification 282, Teacher of Students with Disabilities (PreK)
  • Experience in early childhood settings
  • Familiarity with standardized early childhood educational assessments (e.g., Battelle Developmental Inventor, Brigance)
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using technology and adaptive tools to support student learning
  • Ability to plan and deliver specially designed instruction, differentiate instruction, and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
  • Ability to supervise and support educational technicians
