Schedule: Monday - Firday 1:30pm - 9:30pm; 37.5 hours per week; Position open immediately.
Qualifications
To provide essential custodial services that ensure an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role is vital in maintaining school facilities for daily classroom activities, campus events, and long-term preservation.
Performance Responsibilities
As defined by the Support Services Handbook.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated based on the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the assigned areas. The evaluation will be conducted by the Director of Transportation & Facilities in coordination with the Building Principal.

Qualifications
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Excellent physical condition, stamina, and manual dexterity.
- Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar maintenance role preferred.
- Working knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Familiarity with basic landscaping, snow removal, and general "handyman" repair practices.
- Personal Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and conscientiousness.
- Ability to work independently and follow safety protocols strictly.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Performance Responsibilities
- Facilities Maintenance & Sanitation
- Clean and maintain assigned facilities and grounds (classrooms, offices, gyms, restrooms, cafeterias, and multipurpose rooms) to ensure a high standard of cleanliness.
- Execute floor care duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and seasonal stripping/waxing.
- Sanitize restrooms, sinks, and showers daily; replenish essential supplies (soap, paper towels, etc.).
- Clean mirrors, windows, and other glass surfaces.
- Maintain outer premises by mowing lawns, watering plants, and keeping walkways clear of debris.
- Safety & Security
- Prepare the site for daily operations by opening doors, raising flags, and clearing walkways of snow or ice.
- Secure facilities and grounds daily by checking doors, arming alarms, and managing lighting to minimize liability and property damage.
- Monitor halls, lunchrooms, and grounds to prevent injuries and ensure a safe environment for students.
- Respond immediately to safety or operational concerns, such as facility damage, vandalism, or triggered alarms.
- Monitor freezers, boilers, and other critical equipment to ensure continuous operation.
- Minor Repairs & Specialized Tasks
- Perform minor, job-related maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures (e.g., changing vacuum bags, tightening hardware).
- Execute comprehensive summer and school-vacation maintenance projects, including furniture relocation and interior painting.
- Report significant damage to the Director of Facilities and assist in overseeing necessary repairs.
- Professionalism & Collaboration
- Attend mandatory meetings, in-service training, and workshops to stay updated on safety standards and job functions.
- Provide direction to students and staff regarding safety issues or immediate facility needs.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of facilities for special events, meetings, and community functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or Building Principal.
