Qualifications
- Certification as an Educational Technician III from the Maine Department of Education
- CHRC Approval from the Maine Department of Education
- Experience working with children
- Skills and proficiencies for basic computer utilization
- Ability to work with other staff
JOB GOAL: To use instructional, clerical and management skills to support the educational development of students
Performance Responsibilities
Instructional
- Becomes familiar with classroom rules, expectations, materials and assignments
- Works 1:1 with a student providing instruction to support students in the curriculum as defined by the teacher
- Works with small groups of students providing support with the curriculum as defined by the teacher
- Performs short-term instruction with indirect professional supervision
- Supports students with testing accommodations
- Monitors student behavior plans as defined by the teacher
- Conducts student observations as defined by the teacher
- Communicates with the teacher about student performance
- Accompanies students during off-campus activities (may do so with indirect teacher supervision)
- Performs lunch or break duty as directed by the Building Administrator
- Performs other duties as requested by the Building Administrator or supervising teacher
- Maintains records of student progress, behavior, assignment completion and other areas as defined by the teacher
- Utilizes computer to word-process, create forms, and/or support student with curriculum expectations
- Corrects student work
- Prepares calendars, bulletin boards, instructional support materials
- Performs other duties as requested by the Building Administrator or supervising teacher
- Meets with supervising teacher on a regular basis
- Alerts teacher to changes in student behavior or performance
- Maintains organized copies of notes and homework from each class in which you are supporting
- Maintains confidentiality about all aspects of student performance and written and oral records
- Demonstrates a respect for the legal and human rights of students
- Follows health and safety procedures established by the District
- Arrives and departs punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage
- Demonstrates dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards
