This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with small groups, providing remedial or enrichment instruction, and assisting with the implementation of student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Support:Introduce new learning pre-planned with a teacher and guide independent study or remedial work for individual students and small groups.
- Behavioral Management:Implement behavior plans and use crisis intervention techniques (such as Safety Care) to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
- Documentation:Maintain accurate records of student progress, lesson outcomes, and behavioral data.
- The ability to communicate effectively with multiple regular education classroom teachers and provide learning support to students in the 6-8 general education curriculum.
- Experience in reading intervention preferred
- Supervision:Monitor students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and field trips.
- Education:Minimum of 60 credits of approved post-secondary study.
- Certification:Must hold or be eligible for a State of Maine Educational Technician II Authorization (022).
- Safety:Current Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) approval/fingerprinting is required.
- Skills:Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student information.
