North Yarmouth Academy seeks an energetic and dynamic Director of Residential Life to lead and further develop the Academy’s new boarding program, beginning July 1, 2025. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with on-campus housing provided.
NYA has a long history of welcoming domestic and international students through its homestay program. To support and expand this program, NYA has acquired an apartment and commercial building adjacent to campus. This newly renovated facility will include four faculty apartments for dorm parents and residential space for 45 students. Additionally, the commercial space will be transformed into a vibrant student dining and recreational commons. The facility will open with 15-20 students in the fall of 2025, reaching its full capacity of 45 students by the fall of 2026.
The Director will play a key leadership role in establishing a student-centered residential life experience. This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a focus on creating a dynamic and supportive residential community. The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree and five years of leadership experience in residential life at an independent boarding school. Additional experience working in independent school admissions is a plus.

Responsibilities Will Include
- Overseeing the residential life program, including scheduling study halls, dorm coverage, and planning weekday and weekend activities.
- Supervising and supporting residential life staff.
- Managing the residential life budget in collaboration with NYA’s CFO.
- Assisting the Head of School with faculty housing assignments.
- Developing and implementing residential life policies and procedures, working closely with the Head of Upper School and Upper School Dean on student conduct and disciplinary matters.
- Serving as a liaison between boarding and homestay students’ families.
- Providing support to the Office of Admission as an Admission Associate and assisting international students with F-1 Visa and travel needs.
