Have a passion for working with children? Join our Early Head Start/Head Start team, providing early childhood education services. Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time Infant (6 weeks to 18 months of age) Center Aide. As the Center Aide, you assist with activities involved in the daily operation of a childcare facility or preschool classroom.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, 52-week position located at our Rockland Child Development location.

Center Aide Responsibilities

Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Childhood programs who work 24-40 hours per week will receive a monthly stipend which is based on your lattice through MRTQ (Maine Roads to Quality).

Center Aide Responsibilities
- Greeting children, getting them settled into the facility.
- Assisting with classroom and playground supervision, and other daily activities related to the operation of the classroom, including light cleaning duties.
- Maintain the confidentiality of client files and information.
- High school diploma or equivalent and up to 12 months of experience.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions.
- A minimum of an age-appropriate Child Development Accreditation (CDA) must be obtained within the first 12 months of assignment to an Early Head Start/Infant Toddler/Head Start classroom.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work directly with children aged birth to 5 years old, managing noises and behaviors typical of this age group, including potentially unsafe actions like hitting, kicking and biting.
- Upon hire and periodically thereafter, you must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

Salary : $17 - $22
