Senior Accountant

A well-established construction company in Columbus, Mississippi is seeking an experienced senior accountant to join its team. This role works closely with the CFO and supports both day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.

In This Role

• Maintain and balance the general ledger, including daily transactions and journal entries.
• Assist with monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Process payroll and reconcile payroll taxes and benefits.
• Reconcile and remit sales tax and contractors’ tax.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Work with project managers on accurate job costing and revenue recognition.
• Assist with cash flow management.
• Prepare documentation for external audits and financial reviews.
• Help ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations.

What We Are Looking For

• 2–5 years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and cost accounting.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes and sales tax.
• Understanding of accrual accounting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and job cost reporting.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
• Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and adapt to shifting priorities.
