About the Role
Service Specialists recruiting agency is seeking an experienced Safety Technician to support commercial construction operations in Gluckstadt, MS. The Safety Technician will be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment by implementing safety programs, conducting training, monitoring compliance, and promoting a strong culture of safety across all job sites. This role is critical in protecting employees, subcontractors, and the public while ensuring adherence to OSHA standards and company safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce site-specific safety plans in alignment with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily jobsite inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective measures are taken.
- Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
- Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and accident/incident investigations, providing root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and local/state safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation including safety reports, incident logs, and training records.
- Support project teams with safety-related concerns including fall protection, scaffolding, excavation, confined space, electrical safety, and PPE compliance.
- Collaborate with site management to continuously improve safety performance and culture.
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required).
- First Aid/CPR Certification (required).
- STS-C (Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction) or other advanced safety certifications (preferred).
Experience:
- 3–5 years of safety experience in construction or heavy industry.
- Hands-on experience in hazard identification, JHAs, and accident investigations.
- Proven ability to lead safety meetings and training sessions.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Industry Standards.
- In-depth knowledge of fall protection, scaffolding, excavation, confined space, electrical safety, and PPE.
- Ability to influence and enforce compliance among diverse crews and subcontractors.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and safety management software.
