What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Installation Technician - Commercial & Residential position at Service Smith?
Job description
HVAC Installation Technician
Great Technicians Fix Problems — They Don’t Sell Products.
At Service Smith, we believe HVAC technicians should be focused on what they do best: diagnosing problems, making quality repairs, and taking care of customers. If you’re an experienced technician who is tired of sales quotas, unnecessary upselling, and pressure to turn every service call into a sales opportunity, we may be the right fit for you.
No sales quotas. No pressure to upsell. Just honest, high-quality HVAC service.
What We Offer
- Competitive, above-average pay based on experience and skill level
- Steady, year-round work
- Paid vacation
- Opportunities to advance and take on greater responsibility in supervisory role
- A supportive, integrity-driven company culture
- The ability to focus on service and technical expertise—not sales
What You’ll Do
- Complete residential and commercial HVAC installations, replacements, and larger-scope projects.
- Install, modify, and replace ductwork for both residential and commercial projects.
- Read and follow plans, job scopes, and specifications to complete installations correctly and efficiently.
- Work independently on many projects and as part of a team when larger jobs require multiple technicians.
- Make sure the right materials, equipment, and tools are ready to keep projects moving smoothly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site while delivering quality workmanship.
- Complete job notes and communicate project progress, completed work, and any next steps.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years of HVAC installation (commercial & residential) experience required
- Strong HVAC troubleshooting and repair experience required
- Ability to diagnose and complete service work independently required
- Experience in training other technicians preferred
