What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential HVAC Diagnostics Specialist position at Service Professionals?
Based in Union, NJ, this full-time role places you at the center of home comfort—solving problems, earning trust, and turning service calls into genuine “thumbs-up” moments.
A day in your boots
You start the day from home—your assigned truck (with gas card) is already stocked and dispatched. Your tablet pings with the first call. You arrive, assess, and quickly diagnose a complex residential HVAC issue using the latest tools we provide. You explain options clearly, guide the homeowner to the right solution and service agreement, and prevent future breakdowns with proactive recommendations. Every visit is an opportunity to build relationships, document your work, and hold yourself to performance metrics and revenue goals. By day’s end, you’ve turned problems into relief—and customers into fans.
What you’ll work on
This role is active and hands-on: expect regular sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, and stooping. You’ll use your hands to finger and handle controls, hear and talk with customers and teammates, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, and work in hot/cold areas such as crawl spaces. You should be able to lift 50 pounds regularly. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are important. Work may be outdoors and will vary with season and scope—plan to be outside across multiple seasons.
